BERTRAND BACKS LAMBERT

Aston Villa defender Ryan Bertrand has praised the impact of manager Paul Lambert at the club. Bertrand was brought to Villa Park on a season-long loan deal from Chelsea during the January transfer window.

Due to the presence of Ashley Cole and Caesar Azpilicueta, the England international found it difficult to get into the first-team regular basis. He has been a breath of fresh air at Villa Park, as he has been producing impressive performances since joining the club.

The 24-year-old, though, says that the manager has been responsible for this good run of form, and just one reason that Villa have been winning, and causing William Hill the best betting experience some problems!

Villa struggled for consistency earlier in the campaign, but they seem to be finding it at just the right stage in the season. Lambert has also been given a tough job of reducing the wage bill of the team.

As a result, he has had to sell a number of star names like Stephen Ireland and Darren Bent. Even though Bertrand has joined the club on a loan deal, it is widely expected that Aston Villa will try and make it a permanent one in the summer. He is a player valued at around £ 4 million and it is highly unlikely that he will be first choice once he returns to Chelsea in the summer.

Further, Chelsea have been linked with a £ 25 million move for Southampton left back Luke Shaw.

“Paul Lambert was one of the main catalysts of me coming to this club, because he is a manager whose teams play the way that I like to play. He really encourages you to express yourself on the pitch so it’s always a pleasure to play this way,” Bertrand told Villa’s official website.

Despite being only 24 years old and having represented numerous clubs in his career, Bertrand already has a Champions League winner’s medal to his name.
